ACT/SAT

ACT/SAT
The American College Test (ACT) and the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) are standardized tests that measure a student’s knowledge in Reading, Writing and Math. In short, they are college entrance exams. Many colleges and universities use these tests as part of their admissions process and also to determine a student’s college readiness.

Several private and out-of-state colleges and universities require the ACT or SAT as part of their admissions process. Several private and out-of-state colleges and universities are also test optional or test blind. Students should research the colleges they are interested in to see if taking the ACT or SAT is required.

Test optional means the college does not require test scores, but will consider a student’s test scores if submitted.
Test blind means that a college will not consider a student’s test scores during the admission process.

Note: The University of California (UC), California State University (CSU) and California Community Colleges (CCC) do not require the ACT nor the SAT. UC and CSU will not consider a student’s ACT or SAT scores in its admissions decision.
