About Me
Hello everyone! My name is Samantha Wilson, and I am so excited to connect with you!
I am a lifelong Southern California resident who actually went to high school in our neighboring district, Walnut Valley Unified. I attended UC Irvine, where I received my B.A. in Education and English, with a minor in World Literature in 2018. I also completed my Master's in Teaching Secondary English Language Arts and my teaching credential at UC Irvine in 2019.
I have worked as an educator since 2015 - first as a tutor, then as a teacher's aide, a student teacher, a co-teacher, and finally lead teacher. I have taught both middle school (6-8) and high school (9-11) in every grade level except seniors. Additionally, I have a credential to teach History/Social Science as well as English Language Development (ELD). I began teaching at Rowland High School in RUSD in the 2023-24 school year.
I am not only incredibly enthusiastic about my content areas of English Language Arts and History (and the Humanities as a whole), but also fostering a culture of respect, resilience, and appreciation for the joy of learning. In my classroom, I am passionate about creating a diverse, equitable, and supportive learning environment where students can think critically about their present world and become global citizens who can take charge of their own future. As such, I am a committed advocate and ally for mental health and wellbeing, socio-emotional learning, LGBT inclusivity, and culturally diverse and relevant curriculum.
In my free time, I love to hike, kayak, read a good book, watch the latest Netflix drama, and play video games. You can frequently find me spending time with family and loved ones, including my four cats.
