Rowland Unified School District Superintendent Dr. Julie Mitchell announced today that the District has partnered with Grand Canyon University (GCU) in Phoenix, Arizona to further provide RUSD graduates guaranteed access to affordable, high-quality college education. The partnership will allow students who meet entrance requirements guaranteed admission and a scholarship of up to $4,000 for each of the four years they attend. The university also provides a variety of counseling and teacher support systems to help students succeed.
“The Board of Education and I are thrilled to offer this tremendous opportunity with Grand Canyon University to our students that will help make their college dreams a reality,” said Mitchell. “GCU’s passion for education, their high-quality programs and commitment to provide support systems for student success and affordable tuition will greatly benefit our students.”
Grand Canyon University helps students find their purpose and achieve their potential through more than 225 academic programs, emphases and certificates. Both in-person and online, the curriculum features small class sizes and interactive lesson plans that keep students engaged. GCU has 70,000 students enrolled in its online programs, while enrollment on its ground campus has jumped from less than 1,000 students in 2008 to approximately 20,000 this fall. To help keep higher education affordable, GCU has frozen tuition on its ground campus for 10 straight years.
“We are so pleased to welcome Rowland Unified School District into Grand Canyon University’s Participants in Learning, Leading and Serving (PLLS) alliance and look forward to launching a relationship to benefit their students, staff and school community,” said Dr. Tacy Ashby, Senior Vice President, Strategic Educational Alliances at GCU.
