Congratulations Rowland Wrestlers

Yesterday, Saturday, February 29th, was a huge day for Rowland High School wrestlers at the CIF State Boys and Girls wrestling championships at Mechanics Bank Arena in Bakersfield. Two Rowland Raiders wrestled their ways to becoming State Champions.

In one of the most exciting matches of the night, Rowland’s Alex Ramirez (11th grader) defeated St. John Bosco’s Isaac Salas 4-1 in overtime to win the 138-pound title. It is the first state title for Ramirez.

Cheyenne Bowman (11th grader) won her third state title as she pinned Westminster’s Aine Drury in the second period of their 143-pound championship match. It is the third time that Bowman has defeated Drury.

Cheyenne Bowman was also named MVP of the entire tournament and awarded the Champion of Champions trophy. This is her first time winning this award.

Fernando Barreto (10th grader) came in 6th place in the 120-pound division. Huge day for our kids!

We are so proud of our athletes! Congratulations to Coach Camilo Ramirez, Coach Mark Tafoya, and Coach Rick Aguirre. This is an awesome day for the Raiders!!
