The Words of Rowland IB Diploma Program Graduates

"It's simple -- do you want to miss an opportunity to become the best version of yourself or not? I'm not just talking about the academics. Yes, I know IB gives you access to some of the most rigorous courses in our school and to some of the most rigorous teachers. But it also gives you a two-year trial that comes to shape and define your way of thinking about the world. Sure, you could think of it as utilitarian -- it looks good on college apps, so why not? Why not just AP? Because, unlike AP, unlike any other program our school (and many other schools) have to offer, Rowland IB teaches you how to think effectively, a skill too little people have today. People need to question, to challenge, to be curious, and to discover. If you don't want to end up as some programmed robot after high school, if you actually want to be a thinking, critical human being, take IB.”
COLUMBIA UNIVERSITY

“I believe that participating in the IB program gave me a great advantage in both the college application process and, once I enrolled at Harvard, in adapting to the college curriculum. HARVARD

"Also, there are a lot of essays so you can tell your IB kids that writing really is great practice for college. Time management skills developed from IB is really helpful, especially when midterm exams and essay due dates are crammed into two weeks. Thanks for preparing me for college and life post-IB!" UCSD

“The skills I've acquired have become extremely valuable to me. College reading assignments are insane. I'm assigned almost three hundred pages a week, and I don't even know how I'm surviving with all this reading. Thankfully IB taught me how to read properly." AMHERST

"I think the aspect of IB that helped me the most was the writing practice. I chose to take IB seriously and it was one of those things that indirectly helped me in the long run. Now, I have absolutely no problems with managing my time." UCLA

“I think the only advice I have is that while they might not see the benefit of taking IB right now, the benefits will come later. College papers are long, and I'm really glad I already had the experience of writing internal assessments and the extended essay." PRINCETON
